april 2011

rain has been following me all around michigan... from class, to my job, to my second job, then band practice, to detroit and ypsilanti and rochester and everyone in between. covered in rain.

just to let everyone know, before we even get too far into this. APRIL 2011 IS A FOUR PART MIX TAPE. yeah, i know, this seems excessive but i've been listening to insane amounts of music lately. all i do is drive around, as mentioned above. when i work at my gas station job i work midnight to 8 a.m. so i have that whole night to listen to music. even at my second job (at this delicious privately owned sandwich shop called 'Wiches in downtown oxford, mi) i still get to listen to music while we work in the kitchen. so yeah, april is not even over yet and i already have four playlists to give you. PLUS i have another 3 part playlist (mischief mix) coming soon.

so for anyone who actaully reads this site and downloads all these playlists, this is all very good news to you few people. but thank you all for continuing to read my bullshit jabbering and downloading all my silly little mixtapes.

in other news, school (16+ hours a week) is coming to a close for the semester and it cannot end soon enough. two jobs (60+ hours last week) is killing me but i'm making money and i really need to buy a new amp. primarily because kodaks new ep is just about finished and we are hopefully going to be gigging constantly to support it. in fact, we are playing a show THIS SATURDAY ** april 23rd ** at the pike room, in the crofoot, in pontiac, mi.

then we are going to work on putting out the very first kodaks full length. a real deal KODAKS LP. we've already started writing for it and we are very excited to get more material released. hopefully the dark ep will get people excited for the album... also, we are adding a lead guitar player soon. so kodaks will again be 4, soon. also, if you go to our bandcamp you will notice some new songs have been uploaded... well actually new old demos that have just never been heard... but either way haha

http://thekodaks.bandcamp.com

plus i'm starting a new band. it's a boy & girl band, just myself and one beautiful and talented young lady... it's kind of a synth rock band i guess but of course it's hard to define. think beach house meets the kills. that's what i'm going for anyways haha. but hopefully some demos should be surfacing pretty soon, i'm happy with the way they are shaping up. hopefully ashley (the girl) and myself will start gigging out with the material soon as well... we are calling the project.........

LOVE DAZE

i'm sure we'll be up on myspace, facebook and bandcamp all within the next month. so keep your eyes peeled if guy&girl duo bands appeal to you.

alright, i'm done being boring now. hope you like these traxx... i've been esp obsessed with albert hammond jr, the vaccines, toro y moi, the sea and cake, white denim, kills/raveonettes, new strokes, new fleet foxes, new foo fighters, the cars, little comets, john mayer, a band of bees, dom, new order, tame impala and amazing detroit newcomers- the kickstand band. there's a lot of music to dig through here, but once you start listening you'll notice it's hard to find a bad track on the mix :D here's to the april showers... well rain and snow... we've been having plenty of both this month.

march 2011

(the kodaks as of march 2011, snapped in between recordings for the "Dark EP" in ATL. photo credit to phantaz.)

sorry it's taken so long. on top of school and the kodaks, i now have two jobs. on top of that, my laptop has crashed 3 times within the past 2 months. so you can only imagine the hoards of playlists that were amazing and completely ready to get but that got deleted from the crash. yes, heartbreaking. but such is life.

here is a collection of stuff i was listening to all throughout march. really i've been listening to lots of full albums (new albums by the strokes, toro y moi, radiohead, "oui" by the sea and cake and tame impala's "innerspeaker", to name a few) so what i've done here is collected 2 tracks from each band that i've been listening to a lot this month.

and i listened to lots, and lots, and lots of music in march. the kodaks and our best friends phantasmagoria drove from detroit, the cinci, to nashville, ATL, to jax (FL), then back to ATL then back to cinci, then home. so one could only imagine how much time i spent behind the wheel. music kept me sane. as it always does. thanks for being patient, now that i'm getting up and running again playlists will become more and more frequent. my playlist for april is already pretty much done AND since i've got this version of my laptop back, i've been creating a monster playlist simple entitled "MISCHIEF MIX" right now i have 3 cds at least and there will probably be around 4 download links.

SO, lots happening. i'm almost done with college for the semester (thank fuck) and MSU snubbed me (again) for their study abroad program but i plan on traveling throughout europe with my photographer friend, ron brown. this will happen sometime this summer. until then i'm hard at work with school and work (a gas station at night, sandwich shop during the day) and kodaks are also finishing up our newest release which will be called the "Dark Ep" and hopefully be out sometime this month or in may. plus, The Kodaks have shows coming up....

‎---upcoming shows---

APRIL 9TH @ Woodruff's in Ypsilanti w/
Phantasmagoria, The Drags & Lightning Love

APRIL 23RD
The Crofoot (PIKE ROOM) w/ almost free for the release of their new ep (Almost Free EP RELEASE PARTY!!!)

MAY 7TH
SPARKLEFEST

but anyways, that's enough spam about stuff you guys probably do not care about. but then again, if you don't care, why are you here, at this blog, reading my words? hopefully you care. i care, that's why i post all this shit on here. my sister thinks i'm going to get sued. let's try and avoid that if possible... until i'm in jail please just enjoy the tunez.

bobby

atlanta is taunting me...

just a day or two ago now my guitarist/bassist/backing vocalist/folk loving/best friend Adam "Bobby" Laidlaw is moved away... just 3 days ago he was in Michigan, and now he's in Georgia. Bobby is moving away from Detroit and moving to Atlanta. words cannot really express how much i am going to miss him- he was a more than crucial element in The Kodaks as well as one of my best friends, so naturally, all i could do was make him a going away mix. thanks for everything adam, i'm going to miss you very much and i hope you know how jealous i am of you.

be free you gypsy.

hopefully we will reconvene next month for tour & sxsw and have as much fun as ever. til then...

young bloodz (part one)

sorry it's been so long since my last post. i mean, it's been a while since my last play list anyways. my computer took a spill right before christmas so i ended up loosing absolutely everything on my hard drive so i had to get a new one (so naturally i got a larger HD) and for the past month or two now i've just been reloading my itunes. but i'm almost back to normal.

so all that being said- delayed mixes from December, January and now February will all be posted very soon, because even despite lack of posts, i've had these mixes done. i just lost the files and the play list specifics- so i've been working real hard to try and get my shit back together to post.

now to feed the appetite of anyone who actually reads this site and downloads these mixes i am posting a mix that i made for my long time friend who turns 20 tomorrow. this is only part one- i will post part two tomorrow on his actual b-day. happy birthday sam.

2011 updates

2011 updates

some stuff---

lots of stuff has been happening lately! i'm so glad that i (Adam) got to go out last night in Detroit and check out "City of the Future" a new event at the majestic- it's a free show every monday night at the magic stick lounge, showcasing new local artists. The Kodaks will be playing the next city of the future (number 4) in coming weeks.

last night i was lucky enough to see Phantasmagoria play and they totally blew me away, definitely some of the most fresh music to come out Detroit this year. hopefully the kodaks will be playing many shows in the future with phantazzz. check out their bandcamp--> http://phantasmagoria.bandcamp.com/

until then we are still recording our new ep, which we are semi sure we want to call the "dark ep". the track listing is as follows-

the kodaks - "dark ep"
1. lynn
2. mouth kiss (dark version)
3. monophobia
4. rough sleeper
5. mean april (dark version)
6. untitled

there will also be another ep release, a b-sides collection of sorts, after the "dark ep" is out and we are thinking of calling that the "bright sides" which will feature other songs we are also recording right now like "movie theatre," "aqua dream" and some other b-sides. we are hoping to release the "dark ep" sometime around march or april of this year.

in addition to the exciting news that we self producing, self recording and self releasing our new ep (and hopefully getting it out soon!) we are also sad to announce that Adam "Bobby Law" Laidlaw will be leaving The Kodaks around the end of feb. because he is now going to continue his nomad/ vagabond/ gypsy/ amazing lifestyle and move to Atlanta, before he moves to San Fransisco, and ultimately ends up in Portland. Bobby will continue to produce and play out new material that he does solo as Robert Law. check out his tunes---> http://myspace.com/robertlawmusic and/or check out this video of one his newer songs "Poor Family" ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9ybztyTH8Q

besides all that, we have a lot of shows coming up soon. in addition to playing the next "city of the future" at the magic stick lounge in detroit, we are also playing a house party around next weekend in mid-town detroit (Wayne State students invited!) and after that we are also hoping to play a show in East Lansing for the first time (MSU students invited!) all before Adam leaves in late february.

even though we keep loosing amazing musicians and friends like Mitch Green, Casey Jones and now Bobby Law, we are still lucky enough to continue to find even more amazing musicians, and we are always grateful for the people that do play with kodaks, past, present or future. there has never been any bad blood between any kodaks, ever. and i'm very happy for that.

i'm happy to announce that both Jeff "Geoffree" Yateman and Philip Petrucci have joined The Kodaks. Jeff plays drums and helps with production and now Phil and i will both switch back and forth between covering bass and rhythm guitar duties. i'm also excited to mention that Jeremy Southworth, a local musician that Bobby introduced me to, has offered to help pick up the slack and cover lead guitar duty for some shows here and there.

we are also hoping to maybe make it down to SXSW in Austin this year, that is mid march so if that happens we will probably tour on the way down, playing Cinci, Nashville and ATL. in addition to hopefully getting out in march, we are trying to organize a two week long tour in may, which will be our longest tour yet! we would love to play in Canada, New York and other places on the East Coast, and maybe finally make it down to Jacksonville. also: i'm probably doing study abroad in Europe this summer and i might take my guitar to do some solo shows here and there for fun. i'm going to be in Dublin and London for weeks at a time, so hopefully i could find a bar or a party to play at.. either way, The Kodaks will be in a city near you soon, just keep your eyes peeled.

so anyways, we got a lot of shit going on! but most of it is good! The Kodaks are firing on all cylinders right now, we will have a new record, new merch, new shows and and all new line-up very soon. just keep tabs on us and we will try to entertain you in the best ways we can! hope to see and talk to many of you soon!

-Adam F. Smith

p.s. - you can download pretty much everything we have done to this point, our first ep, old demos and some other b-sides if you follow this link---> http://www.mediafire.com/?8adj57bz7op8bk5
(i will post this same link on my blog, just google young authentic or go to adamsblogfitz dot blogspot dot com)

p.s.s. for you mixtape lovers, i'm really sorry for my lack of posts. my computer took a spill right before christmas and my hard drive was damaged, so i lost everything. everything in my itunes, all my photos, all my short stories, musical projects, mixtapes, anything and everything i had was lost in this tragic accident. but i have my itunes pretty much restocked and i will be posting a december playlist that i had ready a month ago before i lost everything and i will also be posting a january mix, feb mix and of course some valentines day stuff. so don't loose hope just yet!

november 2010

it's almost the end of december. we're over half way through the month and once the christmas stuff starts all of a sudden it's going to be 2011. november was a strange month for me this year. lots of driving to detroit. hours and hours of driving, listening to "undertow" by warpaint. got to see some local acts like compartment and prussia. thanksgiving went well as it always does. school is wrapping up which is nice. november marked a very special time when kodaks got to play with bear hands of nyc. their debut album burning bush supper club might be my favorite release of 2010. the kodaks also have a new website. where you can listen to new tracks such as "untitled" and "lynn" and one can also download songs for free, or name your own price for a full album download. kinda like radiohead did ya know. did that work for them?

anyways, here is the playlist. december 2010 will be posted soon.

october 2010

yes, it is almost the end of november, i'm sorry for the lack of posts. this is a mix i made in october, the mix that have been making for november will posted very soon. october marks the release of bear hand's single - "crime pays" which is featured here. "crime pays" is one of my favorite songs on one of my favorite records of the year. bear hands debut record - "burning bush supper club" is available here.

the twin shadow record "forget" deserves all the good press it's been receiving, the album is almost perfect. i saw twin shadow play and they were great, their lead singer and guitar player can really play. in october i also saw the walkmen and dr dog, both very good performances. the drummer for the walkmen is still one of the best.

december 10th marks the release of the satin peaches new 7" single "red" on five three dial tone records. kodaks will be playing on that show with the peaches and we will also be playing even sooner at the lager house on november 28th with bear hands. come check out some show in the D, and until then here are some new tunes, i hope everyone enjoys.

june 2010

made half of this mix with summer fun in mind. made the other half with the realization that i completely fucked my summer by breaking my right hand. but- it's my RIGHT hand. so i can still play guitar. fun fact.

plus THIS makes me a little less sad about it. but only a little. on the bright side tho: i think i'm becoming ambidextrous

i'm most excited about the new Bombay Bicycle Club track, and the new track from local (DETROIT) musician- Daniel. if you can't tell- i've been jamming to the Eclipse soundtrack- fuck everyone- the songs are there. ! there are old tracks and new tracks on this mix.

anyways- less is more. i'm done with words. and my hand is done trying to type them. enjoy the tunes. i'll be enjoying my medication.

this week (MAY 2010)

has flown by.

almost too quickly. but despite being busy, i have enjoyed myself. summer is coming. i'm already out of class but the weather hasn't been full blown summer.. yet. but now we're nearing the end of may and those 80 degree days are becoming evermore common.

it's wonderful. life in general would be wonderful despite "work" and "problems" and the usual junk. but who wants to hear about that?

i'm going to busy as fuck this weekend.. but in a good way for once. SO to anyone who doesn't know, and that may (or may not) be intereted- my band THE KODAKS are playing this saturday at the belmont in hamtramck. click that last link there for deets. but fyi- i'm playing with a whole new lineup. mitch green is playing drums and i'm just saying- the dude can play. so, let's hope it goes well..

nOw! moving on. this mix. is intense. it's long. it's up, it's down. but every song (in chronological order haha) pretty much describes my week. there's going to be no posting in the next couple of days, so i figure i would let anyone who is going to be enjoying warm weather this weekend enjoy it with great music. summer fun, music in the sun. right?

outside has been inspiring me lately. just the idea of "outside".. despite everyone (including me) being poor as shit and always bitching about it, michigan is a beautiful place to live in the (late) spring.
green everywhere. fresh air. blue skies... when you're slightly away from detroit that is haha

anyways, enough words. as a wise friend JUST said to me- "less talk, more walk". so i'm going to do the real thing and stop just talking and... well... JUST DO IT. so yeah, forewarning: this mix is as excentric as my typing is right now. i guess i'm just happy lately. i feel alive.. !!!

hence all the (old school) rap, the variety of indie pop, random slow songs and other strange assortments from all over history. friends have been influencing my music lately- and i'm okay with that.. cause i still get my own picks.. the new wolf parade (GHOST PRESSURE) is amazing. and also- i know this is a long playlist- but the newest track by toro y moi is stupid good.. and it's completely different from anything off his debut. genius.

just as long as everyone enjoys this playlist, i'm okay with whatever. so HeRe wE GO

april out-takes

this week is my hell week. they call this "finals" for us "college students". if you've never been through this finals thing, avoid it at all costs. it's terrible. i'm too tried to blog. and that is pretty fucking tired. this mix is self explanatory, the thing i'm most pumped is: the first track (LONG LIVE FRENCH KICKS) and the newest track by the new division and the new interpol track that JUST arrived but paul banks still sings like he did on their third record and i'm not sure about that yet... goodnight.

Bad Cop

listen to ---> Bad Cop

There are so many bands out there these days- so why give a fuck about just one?

This is a question that I have posed to myself many times. With all these bands out there, it’s literally becoming difficult for people to remember a band, let alone their name. But let me tell anyone whom reads my godforsaken Internet posts- remember the band name “Bad Cop.”

Adam Moult is one of the most honest, driven and down to earth men that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The best way to describe Adam is to say, “He is real.” Because the truth is, Adam is the real deal, and more importantly, Bad Cop is the real deal. Bad Cop is a rock band from Nashville, and they have recorded at some of the same places and with some of the same people that ran with Be Your Own Pet, JEFF the Brotherhood and Turbo Fruits. But the fact of the matter is that Bad Cop CANNOT get lumped in with those bands. Bad Cop is better than any categorization will give them credit for.

Bad Cop’s debut album is called “Harvest the Beast” and it will be arriving to the public (legally) by ROIR records later this year. When that album drops- collective minds will be blown. Bad Cop is the real deal rock band. Just take a visit to their myspace page (http://myspace.com/badcopnashville) to understand what I mean. “Daylight” is a rock song with real anima and depth that shows Bad Cop’s roots in post-punk as well as psychedelic rock.

My favorite track is “Amores Perros” because the music and the lyrics and the style come together to form one of the most beautiful pieces of art that I’ve heard this year.
Moult works as some sort of combination of Jim Morrison meets Ian Curtis, Alex Hartness provides a full on guitar attack (providing whatever he needs to provide and providing it well) and Karl Merkley and Dylan Rowe (drums and bass, respectively) deliver the kind of tight smart rhythm that makes Bad Cop tic.

Typically, I will not write over one paragraph on just one artist. But this is not just one other artist. If there was one band around right now that I could say sincerely, “They might have a fucking chance” then it is Bad Cop. No one makes money off music anymore but Bad Cop should because they are the type of real rock band that anti-whatever people would say, “we need.” Everyone needs Bad Cop. Because they are legit. So go listen.

april 2010

HiPsTeR muzak

this mix has gone through so many different versions and revises. the actual "april 2010" playlist on my computer has about 70 songs in it. i was going to upload a bunch of different playlists, like april part one, part two, part three, yada yada. but i'm not going to.

just one playlist. one song by each band. i've gotten a shit ton of new records lately, as in leaks, FO FREE and i fucking love it. yeah i feel like a scum bag but hey the music industry hasn't done anything for me lately so fuck it. but really, some of the records i have are so good i will most likely be buying them on vinyl.

some albums that are new to my itunes and that everyone needs to get their hands on....

lcd soundsystem - this is happening
mgmt - congratulations
the national - high violet
foals - total life forever
ariel pink's haunted graffiti - before today
broken bells - broken bells
teddybears - devil's music
bear (the ghost) - that night
french kicks - roller ep

seriously. if you can find the downloads for any of those full albums- go do it. i've been listening to the new lcd and new foals back to back to back to back- i don't think there is a track on either of those records that i don't like.

i'm the hugest french kicks fan and the roller ep some how slipped passed me all these years and holy SHIT it's good. it's three tracks of pure french kicks glory.

my friend robby really IS the band called bear (the ghost) and he is so talented it's ridiculous i feel like his music is so pure and original. and so it justifies me loving it so much. i'm sure that pretty soon pitchfork will dig their claws into him and it will all be over but we'll see.

i'm really into the new mgmt record too and yes i know, i'm a huge douche bag because everyone else on the fucking planet seems to hate it but whatever. i'm so alt i'm the alt of alt. HiPsTeR d00d. srsly tho, "congratulations" is different and def darker than "oracular spectacular" but it's a lot more original and the record as a whole feels a lot more cohesive and shit, i like that kinda thing.

what else? the new ariel pink is fucking great, it makes me wish he had always gone for mid-fi instead of the shittiest of shitty lo-fi that every ariel pink record was before this one.

within the past month i saw both beach house and washed out live and let me first say that those are two of my favorite bands around right now because every song that comes from them seems to take my breathe away. nohomo. but needless to say, i love those bands and they blew me away live so i have a newer track by washed out and a sweet remix of a beach house track.

lots of good single tracks have been coming out of the internets lately too. the new track by health, the new track by band of horses, the new track by crystal castles, the new track from futureheads (yes i know, but it's actually good) and some other newer tracks i'm hearing are all really great.

and some new comers to take note of. the track on here by gauntlet hair is such a good jam, they sound very promising and i hope there is more good stuff to come from them. and i feel the same way about other new comers called kisses because their track "bermuda" gets me moving every time i hear it and i feel as if it might be one of my favorite songs this year (that and "round and round" by ariel pink). another band that is newer to me on this mix is elephant parade but their song on this mix "grand opening" is a wonderful pop gem.

also, gotta represent detroit. i'm just going to say right now, when the full length record by lettercamp gets released, collective minds will be blown. also, i'm very impressed by the debut of fellow detroit youngsters the pizazz.

alright that's all i'm going to say. this post is way too fucking long, sorry to anyone that just wants to get to the mp3s. this playlist really does speak for itself though, so i hope everyone enjoys.

***SHIT i thought i had it worked out so all my songs were going to fit in one mix but mediafire is getting to be more and more lame by the day and i can only fit 200 mb so i had to X out some songs, i'll still list them here (with an X instead of a number) but they aren't really in the download, sorry. if you want the X'd tracks that bad just email me. i'll be uploading an april out takes mix soon.

everyone enjoy---

young clubs

new young pony cinema bicycle police club

within the last week i discovered this band called two door cinema club. honestly, they are really fucking awesome. they are young, they are irish (the lead singer looks like the little brother i never had) and they write some of the tightest, catchiest indie pop songs that i have heard all year. i've had a crazy week and i've been busy and this band has been fueling my fast paced life in the best way. it seems every song i have by this band is seriously amazing, and i promise you, they will be stuck in your head.

in about a week or within a week or whatever, i will upload my april mix. because it is officially april, as the warmer weather and torrential downpours indicate. but april is good, i love rain and rain brings life, so everything is becoming greener and greener all the time and i like it.

but back to the music. i've noticed there are a lot of younger, foreign, indie pop bands springing up all over the place, and it seems that all the best ones have the word "club" in their name. i think adding club to the title kind of emphasizes the youth of the band, like little kids forming a club. or forming a band that makes ridiculously catchy tunes.

honestly though, people might say these bands are real young or too poppy or whatever, but i love simple(r) accessible pop music with an edge, and that's just what these songs are. these bands definitely have LOTS of influence over my music. now i just need to work on being catchier, and i'm thinking about changing my band name to---> young kodak film club (seriously though, that's not band sounding, is it? haha)

all these young foreign indie club bands seem to be my favorites also, and they are perfect for warmer weather, specifically driving around in a car. so i'm offering downloads of all these beautiful songs by all these adorable little club bands so you can pick and choose your favorite tunes by each of these bands and then burn yourself a cd to drive around to. do it.

the bands i have chosen here are two door cinema club, bombay bicycle club, new young pony club and tokyo police club. this is a mix, but it features songs only by these four bands.

some note worthy things about this mix: it includes pretty much everything i have by two door cinema club (seriously, every song of their sounds like an a-side worthy single) including some remixes, (i actually included remixes of several songs by a couple of the bands), there are songs here from the new new young pony club album and there is also the new single by tokyo police club but really the only thing you need to know about this mix is that it includes every song that i really like by each of these bands.

happy friday. happy saturday. happy april. happy weekend.

listen to these young indie pop club bands and you will feel better, i promise, the quality of your life will improve once you have these songs pumping through your brain. esp anything by two door cinema club, i'm telling you, they are amazing.

i'm only going to list each band once, so from then on each track will be by that band until i list the next band, but really it's easy to figure out, there are only four bands, and plenty of songs.

runway delight

earlier today my friend wrote me an email and informed me that one of his good friends is doing a runway show. now i'm not sure if she is modeling, displaying clothes or just organizing the event, but long story short, my friend wanted me to find some music for his friend, for the runway.

the (most) ridiculous part about this whole thing was the criteria i was given to base my selection of songs off of:

1930s smoky jazz club/ tibetan landscape/ strong runwayish beat/ serious yet a little bit playful atmospheric sense/ preferably no lyrics.

so i tried my best anyways, and i pooled together about 50 songs to hand over to my friend so he could give these songs to his friend, for a runway. so i'm hoping that in the near future there might be some hot young woman strutting down a runway to the music i hand selected. but then again, that might be no where near what these songs are actually going to be used for.

i'm not even going to provide a song list here, there will be two downloads below that have around 23ish songs a piece that i felt slightly resembled the characteristics given above. but seeing as how all those things (30's jazz, 80's runway beat and no lyrics) do not exist in any one given song, i kind of just took pot shots. there is everything from holy fuck, to deastro, to spoon, to interpol, to broken social scene, to washed out, to french kicks and back again. so, sorry about not listing songs, i just actually have more important shit to do right now. but this should be fun. spice up your wednesday. surprise song selection from your favorite mix maker.

let me know how you think i did on matching the criteria i was given. enjoy:

runway delight

ps. for anyone that doesn't know, i got trapped in canada on monday night and saw the black lips last night, which was awesome because dudes from spoon and deerhunter showed up at the stick so that was rocking but over all the night was a shit show. in a good way. but now i'm feeling the effects from all this tom foolery on this blah of a wednesday. but then, I'M SEEING BEACH HOUSE TOMORROW NIGHT and right now "teen dream" has my album of the year for 2010 so i'm pretty damn excited. now i just have to go study and ace the exam before tomorrow night. you can follow more of my ridiculousness on here: http://adamfitz.tumblr.com

pop songs

i'm up really late, it's in the a.m. on monday morning. i'm in a bad mood, mainly because i have class tomorrow (amongst other things) but all i'm doing right now is listening to ostentatiously poppy indie rock music.

pretty much all i do is listen to music, if you haven't put that together yet, and tonight was no exception. but after getting in my usual brooding time in with interpol, i ventured outside the box for a second and i'm so happy with what i've found.

two door cinema club is a band of really young dudes from london or ireland or wherever, and they actually use artificial drums on most of their songs but they sound absolutely wonderful. i'm really into the fast, tight indie rock pop thing, especially when it's semi british. so to pass some time i put together a lovely playlist of all these glorious indie pop songs.

so yeah, that's pretty much it. little to no shpeele today. but these songs are really catchy, so if you have time before work/class/whatever, burn yourself these songs on a cd or put this playlist on your ipod so you can crank these jams and think about the warm weather ahead. instead of the long normal week ahead.

there is also a newer and improved (don't worry, i'll never leave this blogspot page) young authentic. the second version of y.a. is a tumblr so it's kind of like blogging for lazy/a.d.d. people and i think i fit both those categories so it works for me. pictures, videos, links, whatever, it's all right here (---> http://adamfitz.tumblr.com)

anyways, i hope you enjoy these pop songs, and enjoy this monday, and enjoy life in general. april is almost here. oh oh mean april. take care.

spring revised

alright, so i've been uploading lots lately.

first a bunch of happy shit, then some sappy shit, then some angry/upset shit, then some happy stuff. then i did a movie review. yeah, i'm all over the place right now. it's the weather. it's crazy and it's all random so that's just how i am right now.

but anyways, i while back i posted 3 part download for a spring 2010 mix. if you missed those mixes or if you loved them so much that maybe you want to put the first one on a cd, here is your chance.

the first mix (aka part one) of the spring 2010 mix is what i've been playing esp obsessively lately. part one as the most newer tracks on it, so it really makes sense as the lead "spring 2010" mix, ya know?

plus part one has some tracks from the movie "remember me" which i've been talking about a lot lately, plus it has the new foals single which i am obsessed with, as well as one of my favorite interpol tracks, some new vampire weekend, lots of good shiz.

so basically, i re-edited spring 2010 part one so it would fit on a cd so i deleted some tracks and moved some other ones around. most notably, i moved the latest ariel pink song from part three to part one. the song is called "round and round" and i think it is so damn good. also, since i've made my original spring 2010 post i've been informed about this band from london called yuck and they are really awesome. ironically enough, yuck was founded by the brother of my cousin's best friend. yes, that sounds complicated but it's true. all you need to know is that yuck is really good indie rock. also i added a track by another uk band that i happened to see in detroit last week, they are called wave machines who have a real cool 80s-esque indie think going on and they kind of sound like the children of talking heads or something.

anyways, this is my revised mix, it's only 20 tracks and there are some down tempo, mid tempo and plenty of up tempo songs, so it's a nice diverse mix that will all fit on one cd. these songs were very anthemic for my spring break, which is now over. but either way, enjoy this mix, enjoy spring 2010. xo.
